Columbia is one of the fastest growing suburbs in the St. Louis metropolitan area and the sixth most affluent community (per capita) in Illinois.  Located in northern Monroe County on the Mississippi River bluffs and American Bottoms adjacent to Interstate 255, Columbia is only a few miles away from St. Louis across the Jefferson Barracks Bridge.
