American Bottoms is located in a previously defined 2,761 acre development area within the I-255 Development Corridor as defined in the City’s Master Plan.
This area has been zoned commercial or industrial since the 70’s when I-255 was constructed and the City annexed the property.
The acreage is mostly South of I-255 but does stretch to the North as well.
The interchange is required for development of this property.
An interchange was proposed, but cut, in the final I-255 plans. Columbia has been attempting to revive the interchange since that time.
