Community Development

Responsibilities

The Community Development Department is responsible for long range planning, economic development, zoning, subdivision of land, building permits and inspections, and code compliance.

Director of Community Development

The Director of Community Development oversees all functions of the Community Development Department and serves as the City's Zoning Administrator. The Director is also the primary liaison between the City and a number of appointed boards and community organizations. 

Community Development Assistant

The Community Development Assistant provides administrative support for the Community Development Department and the City Engineer and is the first point of contact for information and applications related to building, zoning and code compliance. 

Building Official

The Building Official oversees building and compliance functions, including inspections, plan review, issuance of building permits, and code enforcement. This position also serves as the City's Subdivision Administrator, Floodplain Administrator and ADA Coordinator. 

Neighborhood Improvement Officer

The Neighborhood Improvement Officer is responsible for identifying violations of all City codes including building, property maintenance, nuisance, sign and zoning codes. The position is responsible for taking appropriate actions to ensure community health, safety, and welfare.
