Volunteer Opportunities


  • City of Columbia Special Events - Marla Rose, 618-281-7144 ext. 110. Volunteers are needed to assist at the following special events: Reduce, Re-use, Recycle event in April, FestiFall in early Fall, Halloween Hi-Jinks the Saturday before Halloween, Bright Night Christmas Parade the first Saturday in December and/or Visit with Santa Sundays in December. 
  • Columbia Public Library - Crystal Snyder, 618-281-4237 ext. 12. Volunteers are needed throughout the year to assist with library events and projects.
  • Columbia Women's Club - Gaylene Everts, 618-363-0269. Volunteers are needed May - October, 1 day per week. Volunteers help plant and maintain flower gardens in various locations throughout the City.                                                   
  • Grace Adoption - Carol Turnquist, 618-304-4758 or graceadoptioninc@gmail.com. Volunteers build a relationship with a senior citizen in a nursing home or another care facility in our community. 

Christmas Giving Opportunities

  • Columbia Kiwanis Club Toy Drive - Benefits Monroe County House of Neighborly Service. Donate toys for needy children in Monroe County.  Beginning November 23rd, drop new unwrapped toys in Kiwanis Club bins located at Columbia McDonalds, Columbia Firestone, Schnucks, Dollar General, Budnick, Khoury Pharmacy, Columbia National Bank, 1st National Bank of Waterloo Columbia location, George Weber Cheverolet, Hentscher-Johnson Orthodontics and Dairy Queen. 
  • House of Neighborly Service - Accepting donations for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets. Contact the HNS Help Line at 939-8680 for more information.
  • Monroe County YMCA-HTC Center - Collecting food and new or very gently used coats for their Food and Coat Drive. Call 618-281-9622 for more information.
